Chinese actress Jing Tian has recently become embroiled in a surrogacy controversy following a 6,000-word exposé by her ex-boyfriend, cryptocurrency tycoon Justin Sun. Interestingly, Jing Tian and Zheng Shuang—whose own surrogacy scandal previously rocked the Chinese entertainment industry—were classmates in the Class of 2007 Acting Department at the Beijing Film Academy. Within a span of five years, both prominent actresses have found themselves at the center of public scrutiny in China over the issue of surrogacy.
On August 27, lawyers representing Justin Sun announced that a civil lawsuit had been filed against Jing Tian and her parents regarding a property dispute; the amount in question exceeds 30 million RMB, and the case has entered judicial proceedings. Jing Tian has emphasized that she would never sell her love or soul for money, while also self-deprecatingly remarking on her own “poor judgment” and “lack of wisdom.”
