The Trump administration’s repeated crackdowns on prominent U.S. universities and research institutions have caused turmoil in the academic community, presenting Canada with a rare opportunity to attract top talent to head north.
According to a New York Times report, 21 Canadian universities announced on the 27th that they are hiring dozens of researchers, the majority of whom are coming from the United States. Of the 64 incoming researchers, 48 are leaving elite U.S. institutions—such as Harvard, Yale, and MIT—while the rest are arriving from Europe, Asia, and Australia.
